At the height of 750 m above sea level at S32 23.936 and E18 50.125 in the unfamiliar Olifants River Mountains you will find the Golden Sunset; on the doorstep of Namakwaland. The Golden Sunset view stretches from Elands Bay to Shelley Point, including Dwarskersbos, Stompneus, St Helena and Britannia Bay.
Golden Sunset is situated on the Working Farm, Looprivier, about 190 km from Cape Town, direction Citrusdal (N7), where you can participate in organic rooibos, citrus, grape vineyards, drying of peaches and buchu farming.
‘Dirk se Huisie’ is a ‘Stoep and Braai’ with a little house dating back to the early 1900’s. Consisting of an enclosed fireplace, fully equipped kitchen, a room with a double bed and a second room with two bunker beds. There is NO electricity, though gas makes it possible for you to enjoy cold beer and a warm shower. Or you can shower cold outside. Just bring your own bedding, drinks and food. Wheelchair accessible.
You will be surrounded by Nature; the mountain face at the back and the Golden Sunset view in front. This area is part of the Greater Cederberg Biodiversity Corridor. Experiencing geckos, Black Eagle, guinea fowl, Cape Francolin, dassies, ribbok, baboons, etc., frogs and geese at the dam making you feel part of nature. Unfortunately no pets allowed due to sensitive wildlife.
Golden Sunset is ideal for the romantic couple and/or people enjoying outdoor life; bikers, mountain biking, trail run, hiking, swimming in a plaasdam, fynbos, bird watching and having a good time on the stoep…not mentioning the shower with a view...
